They’re just the right size to be worn comfortably in the office, but small enough to be quickly thrown into a bag when travelling or commuting.
The matt-black earcups and bright red metallic accent look modern and attractive without being gaudy. dark satin gunmetal connects the earcups to the headband.
The headband accommodates heads large and small, and is wrapped in soft, pliable leatherette. The left earcup has a power button, along with the integrated mic, 3.5mm stereo input and micro-usB port for charging.The right earcup has the rest of the controls. sound quality is great via both wired and Bluetooth connections.
There’s a definite spike to high treble frequencies, and a lesser spike for mid-bass, but there’s none of the midrange hole that many wireless headphones suffer from. great detail reproduction means you’ll be able to hear background instruments and ambience and the headphones always sound clean and detailed.
Battery life is perfectly acceptable, and our testing lined up perfectly with sony’s quoted 30-hour figure. charging is a not-sogreat 6 hours, but that’s easily remedied by leaving them plugged in overnight. one significant downer for iPhone and iPod users, however, is that a killer feature of these headphones will be denied them.
They have an NFC chip, which means those with compatible mobiles will be able to simply touch their smartphone’s NFC chip to the right earcup to create a wireless connection
